Manager Spotlight: Jason Norris
Meet Jason Norris, the general manager at our ARS/ Rescue Rooter branch in Columbus, Ohio. He is the new president-elect of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors (PHCC) Association where he along with the other executive responsibilities, will focus on growing the membership of the organization, particularly with the APHC Apprenticeship program.
In 2008, While living in Indiana, Jason had the opportunity to move back to Columbus to become the general manager and he accepted. “We’ve had significant growth at our branch. We have an incredible focus on customer service. The customers are key to our livelihood so we do whatever it takes to be sure they are happy and their situation is resolved,” said Norris.
While his day to day responsibilities as GM keeps him largely in the office, he does go “on the job” occasionally because he says, “I miss it. I like to go out of the office and meet people who need our help.”
Now he is using his experience to benefit others. He is taking his 25-year experience in plumbing, and he has been able to teach in the apprenticeship program through APHC (a certified bureau of apprenticeship in Ohio). “I have an opportunity to teach a trade to young people who don’t have a direction of what they want to do.”
He is concerned that more high school students don’t consider the trades as a career route and he plans on future collaboration with APHC to visit schools. “Plumbing is a great trade opportunity,” Jason said. “They need to know that plumbing and the trades, in general, are not a consolation prize. It’s a legitimate career opportunity and a person can be very successful at it.”
Although Jason is dedicated to his career with ARS/ Rescue Rooter Columbus and teaching others, he still finds time to volunteer. He has been active with the Tim Tebow Foundation Night To Shine (and a Merit Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts.
We are thrilled to have someone so passionate about what we do and represent our vision. Thank you, Jason!
