Video Sewer Inspection
Are you looking to buy a new home in Schaumburg, Bolingbrook, and surrounding areas? Is your home older than 20 years? If so, you will definitely want to consider getting a video sewer camera inspection. The licensed plumbers at Irish Plumber®, part of the ARS®/Rescue Rooter® Network, use commercial-grade technology to diagnose any problems with your main sewer line. The reach of our video sewer cameras is much better than anything you can rent from home improvement stores. During the inspection, we insert the camera down a clean-out access, usually somewhere in your yard, and view the image on the monitor in real-time to show you exactly what the issue is.
If you’re thinking about buying a new home, we recommend getting the sewer line inspected as part of your home inspection process. In addition to alerting you about potential damage, we can also determine what type of material the sewer line is made from—and if it’s up to current codes. Having that knowledge before you buy a house is priceless. By taking preventative action, you maybe able to avoid significant expenses like broken sewer line or sewage backup.
Here are some of the sewer-related issues we can identify using our video camera technology:
- Clogged main sewer lines
- Broken sewer lines
- Tree root damage
- Old, worn out or separated lines
While inspecting a sewer line, it’s normal to find excessive toilet paper, personal care products, hair build-up, food, grease, sludge, and things that should never be flushed down a toilet. As these items build-up, they eventually cause major clogs. In this situation, we would use our Scour Jet® technology, which shoots water through the drain line at a high pressure to safely clear out debris and make sure your lines are running clean.
Often, we find more complicated problems that cannot be solved with a simple drain cleaning. It’s common to find cracks in the sewer lines, or even worse, collapsed lines. One of the most serious things we find is tree root intrusion. This is more common than you think, especially if you live in a neighborhood with a lot of mature trees. Trees may provide a lot of shade, but they can also provide a lot of headaches. Roots can crawl into tiny openings in an older sewer line seeking out that source of moisture and expand and grow within the line—eventually causing irreparable damage.
We know that having a sewage backup is a nightmare. At Irish Plumber, we give customers several options when it comes to replacing sewer lines by setting up a free consultation and providing upfront written estimates.
